Allis’ detailing of Bendel’s upbringing and life’s work has previously received acclaim from Vogue, Vanity Fair and The Wall Street Journal. The book reflects the spirit of a larger-than-life innovator whose style and influence transformed the fashion industry from the turn of the 20th century to his passing in 1936.

Henri Bendel, Inc., the Manhattan-based store which defined modern retail, survived Bendel until its closure in 2019. The book features period photographs, illustrations, concept art and advertisements from the full 123-year history of the famous department store. It also highlights Bendel’s connections to the ¹ū¶³“«Ć½ region and how his early years in Louisiana shaped his career.
