Jim Moncus overcame hardship, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, built a successful oilfield-equipment business, and later established the James Devin Moncus Family Foundation to give back to ¹û¶³´«Ã½ and Louisiana nonprofits.

Honors Monica Ann Williams Mire, an educator devoted to students with special needs, a traveler and volunteer, and a mentor who supported college students in Jakarta. Her family created the scholarship to continue her legacy of care, opportunity, and belief in students.

Bob Lindley, a 1965 USL Economics graduate, was drum major and Kappa Sigma president, served in the Air Force in Vietnam and Europe, and pursued careers in logistics, budgeting, project management, and software development. He values education, communication, and self-improvement.

Established by Drs. Milton and Patricia Rickels in memory of their son Gordon (1953–1983), an English and Philosophy student, writer, pianist, guitarist, composer, and performer whose great passion was music.

Honors Aaron D. Robichaux, an Opelousas Catholic graduate, outdoorsman, fire-science student, and U.S. Marine who was preparing for commissioning. He died in a 1989 automobile accident shortly before completing his degree.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Stegall, a retired psychology instructor at the ¹û¶³´«Ã½, has served a number of pivotal roles in the Honors Program. She has returned in her retirement to assist with recruitment and the Honors Baccalaureate process.  She and her husband, Richard, donated this scholarship to honor her time in Honors with former Honors Director, Dr. Frederick.

Established by the Woman’s Club of ¹û¶³´«Ã½, described as the oldest federated women’s club in South Louisiana. The club supported young women’s education and funded university scholarships as early as 1907; in 1985 it placed its scholarship savings with the University Foundation to continue supporting educational excellence for Louisiana youth.
